Documentation reads
Long Tom tells the story of how he would have to travel over these mountains (a range at the back of Haasts Bluff) to get to Papunya. In the early days Long Tom liked to travel, not only for the enjoyment of using his traditional skills and exploring his country, but also for his job as a stockman. In later years when Long Tom found the skill to paint, he would use the hills as a back-drop in his paintings; an image that was to become something of a signature style. The mountain range is the home of the snake.
